Aspiration Biopsy in Leucocoric Eyes

緒言

　小児のleucocoriaに遭遇した場合，まず念頭におかなければならないのは網膜芽細胞腫であろう。網膜芽細胞腫はその好発年齢と特異な臨床所見によつて，診断は比較的容易なことが多い。しかし他疾患が合併したり，眼所見がatypicalな場合，診断に苦慮した症例や，誤診を免がれなかつた症例の報告も決してまれではない^1）〜4）。

　1965年から1970年迄の5年間に，白色瞳孔ないし黒内障性猫眼を主訴として広大眼科を受診し，網膜芽細胞腫の臨床診断のもとに眼球摘出を受けた患者は14名14眼で（第1表），それらの摘出眼球を病理組織学的に検索した結果，網膜芽細胞腫を否定されたものが2眼あつた。

Aspiration biopsy using Papanicolaou stain was attemped in five leucocoric eyes of five in-fants in whom malignancy was suspected. Ma-lignant cells were found in four of these eyes, and histological examination of the globes con-firmed the diagnosis of rctinoblastoma. No local recurrence nor metastasis have been observed during follow-up examinations. The remaining case, in whom malignant cells could not be demonstrated, has been treated under the diag-nosis of vitreous abscess without clinical evi-dence of malignancy.
