A new method of the color vision test is introduced, which employs the flicker method with and without a colored adapting field. The method utilizes the selective chromatic adapta-tion observed particularly with the normal sub-ject. When red (630 nm) and green (530 nm) test stimuli are alternatively shown with a proper frequency (about 11 Hz) without any adapting field, the minimum flicker perception can be achieved by adjusting the radiance ratio of the red to green stimuli properly. Taking the loga-rithm of the ratio, a value called Ho is defined.
