幼児に見られる眼球突出について

Proptosis in Childhood

I．緒言

　眼球突出は高度近視，全眼球炎，眼球腫瘍等の眼球自体の病変あるいは眼窩の病変等の際に見られる以外にもBasedow氏病をはじめとする全身疾患の際にも見られる症状である。而してこれが成人にあらわれた場合には一般に全身状態には重篤な変化を及ぼさないものであるが，小児殊に幼児に眼球突出が見られる場合は生命の予後が極めて不良である。

　以下最近経験した症例を中心に幼児に見られる眼球突出についてのべる。

In this paper, prognosis and differential dia-gnosis of proptosis in childhood were discussed.

The clinical and pathological features of proptosis have been studied in 7 children.

In the three children, inflammatory proptosis was due to cellulitis of the orbit, two of whom suffered from maxillary osteomyelitis. Only one infant has survived.

Among the remaining four children, one case of chloroma, two cases of neuroblastoma and one case of histiocytosis were observed. Only one case of histicytosis has survived.
