Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of myasthenia gravis and uveitis with unilateral blepharoptosis. Case:A 78-year-old female presented with left blepharoptosis of acute onset. She had a history of uveitis with elevated intraocular pressure treated with topical timolol 3 years before. Findings:Corrected visual acuity was 0.7 right and 1.0 left. Ophthalmological findings, including ocular motility, were within normal limits. She was positive for tensilon test and antiacetylcholine, leading to the diagnosis of ocular myasthenia gravis. Blepharoptosis improved following pulsed corticosteroid therapy. The left eye showed recurrence of uveitis during the following 24 months. Conclusion:This case illustrates that myasthenia gravis may be associated with other diseases including uveitis. Past treatment with timolol may have triggered aggravation of myasthenia gravis.
