Abstract. Purpose:To present a clinical evaluation of Eagle lacrimal tube,a monocanalicular lacrimal stent with a lacrimal plug. Cases and Method:This study was made on 7 females who had unilateral obstruction of lacrimal canaliculus. The age ranged from 40 to 76 years, average 64 years. Use of stent in both upper and lower canaliculi was not possible. Obstruction of nasolacrimal duct was present in 5 cases and dacryocystitis in two. All the cases received insertion of Eagle stent in upper or lower canaliculus. Results:Eagle stent was retained for one to 12 months, average 6 months. All the cases showed patent passage of lacrimal duct, after which one case developed dacryocystitis with reobstruction. One case each showed granulation of lacrimal punctum, dislocation of the plug, and migration of the plug during irrigation. Conclusion:The Eagle lacrimal tube was effective for canalicular obstruction. Care is needed for complications including migration of the plug during irrigation.
