Abstract. Purpose:To report rapidly enlarging iris cyst in an infant treated by excision and iridectomy. Case:A 3-month female infant presented with anomalous iris in the left eye. Findings:A tumor,4 mm×4 mm in size, was located in the lower nasal sector of the left iris. It enlarged to the size of 5 mm×5 mm one month later. When seen under general anesthesia, the tumor simulated a cyst with its anterior wall attached to the cornea. The tumor was treated by total excision with iridectomy. Histopathologically,it contained numerous goblet cells and was diagnosed with cyst of iris stroma. The site of attachment of the cyst turned into opaque cornea. Conclusion:This case illustrates that mucous-secreting iris cyst may undergo rapid expansion. Corneal opacity may become permanent when the iris cyst is in apposition with the corneal endothelium.
