Abstract. Purpose:To report changes in higher-order aberration following disruption of center of intraocular lens(IOP)by YAG laser. Methods:This experiment was made on 3 types of IOP totaling 14 pieces. A single shot of Q-switched YAG laser was applied to the posterior center of IOP with the power output of 1 mJ. IOL was then placed in a model eye and its aberrations were measured using an OPD-ScanⅡ. Results:IOL showed a pit only and no crack. There was no change in higher-order or spherical-like aberrations in any of 14 IOLs. There was a significant change in coma-like aberration(p=0.04). The amount of change was independent on the type of IOL. Conclusion:Coma-like aberration increases after formation of pit in the posterior surface of IOL by application of YAG laser.
