Abstract. Purpose:To report describe a newly designed capsular stabilization hook for scleral fixation of capsular bag. Method:The capsular hook consists of a curved needle attached with 5-0 propylene thread. Its anterior end is bent and the posterior end bifurcates forming a shape of T. Lens subluxation was created in 8 porcine eyes, followed by phacoemulsification-aspiration and intraocular lens implantation. The capsular hook is used to suture the lens capsule to the sclera viva ciliary sulcus. The scleral end is sutured with a 10-0 thread and is covered. Results:A 180-degree zonular dialysis was well-managed by implanting one device. A 270-degree one was managed by 3 or 4 devices. The capsular bag and intraocular lens was kept in central position. Conclusion:The new capsular hook is useful in fixating the capsular bag to the sclera. It promises to be usable after subluxation of the lens.
