Abstract. Purpose:To report the outcome of intravitreal injection of bevacizumab for central retinal vein occlusion(CRVO)with macular edema. Cases and Method:This retrospective study was made on 8 eyes of 8 cases of CRVO. The series comprised 5 males and 3 females. The age ranged from 56 to 79 years, average 69 years. CRVO had been present for 2 to 19 months, average 8.8 months,at the time of treatment. Bevacizumab was injected once in 3 eyes, twice in 4 eyes, and 4 times in one eye. Foveal thickness was measured with an optical coherence tomography. Visual acuity was evaluated as logMAR. Results:Foveal thickness significantly decreased one month after treatment(p<0.01). Visual acuity improved by 0.2 or more in 2 eyes, remained unchanged in 5 eyes, and deteriorated by 0.2 or more in one eye. Conclusion:This short-time study shows that intravitreal injection of bevacizumab results in decrease of foveal thickness and no significant changes in visual acuity in CRVO.
