Abstract. We treated 20 eyes of 10 cases of Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada(VKH)syndrome without using systemic corticosteroid. The series comprised 6 males and 4 females. The age ranged from 24 to 74 years, average 48 years. The interval between onset and visit to us ranged from 3 to 33 days, average 10.3 days. The initial visual acuity ranged from 0.06 to 1.2 and was 0.4 or better in 16 eyes. All the eyes were treated by topical mydriatics and corticosteroid. The clinical course was evaluated by four parameters:visual acuity, anterior uveitis, serous retinal detachment, and duration or recurrence of inflammation. Final visual acuity of 1.0 was obtained in 18 eyes(90%). Retinal detachment resolved after 7 to 48 days, average 21 days. Anterior uveitis recurred in one case only. Eventual sunset-glow fundus developed in 8 eyes. The findings show that the present cases of VKH syndrome ran a clinical course similar to those treated with systemic corticosteroid.
