整形外科治療に関連して使用する器具は術具，インプラント，装具，シミュレーションや説明用の模型など多岐にわたる．近年，これらの製作に3Dプリンターによる高速造形が大きな影響を及ぼしており，特に上肢治療で使用される器具において重要視される要素として，軽量性，精緻性，高いカスタマイズ性があり，近年の機器や材料の進歩により3Dプリンティングでそのような要件を満たす機器が安価に作成可能となってきた．
3Dプリンティング器具の周術期における主な用途としては患者説明・術前プランニング・手術支援や術具・インプラント・術後装具や義肢が挙げられる．特に上肢手術における3Dプリンティングの応用についての最新の知見を紹介し，将来の展望について述べる．
