The purpose of this study was to identify factors associated with low back pain resulting in disability based on cross-sectional survey data from 9,307 workers. We assessed relationships between low back pain resulting in disability in the previous one month (dependent variable) and potential associated factors. One of the physical factors, “working four hours or more a day in either a half-crouching position or slouching posture”, was the factor that was most strongly associated with the dependent variable (adjusted OR:3.84, 95% CI:2.92―5.05). Further investigation is necessary to identify factors that are strongly associated with the occurrence of low back pain resulting in disability. A prospective cohort study is currently under way.
