The laser-driven photochemical occlusion of middlecerebral artery (MCA) is much easier and less trau-matic than standard electrocautery or even clip meth-ods, while the infarct size is fairly reproducible. Thisstudy aimed to establish the system for YAG laser-in-duced reperfusion of photothrombotic MCA occlusion. Male spontaneously hypertensive rats (5-7 months old, 350-450g) were anesthetized with halothane, endotra-cheally intubated , and mechanically ventilated.
