I.緒言
We have measured circulation blood volu-mes of patients with various mental diseases-and particularly with schizophrenia by the-use of the Evans-Blue method. The patients. consisted of 135 cases of schizophrenia, 6 ca-ses of mania, 5 cases of depression, 5 cases-of senile mental diseases, 6 paralytic cases, 2 cases of alcoholism and 1 case of epilepsy. Twenty healthy persons were used as a con-trol group.
1. In a group of cases of schizophrenia the circulation blood volume, the circulation blood plasma volume, the circulation hemato-cyte volume and the hematocrit value lay in nearly normal ranges on the average for both sexes, but the variations of these valu-es were great as compared to those of the, control group.
2. Fresh cases of schizophrenia gave high-er values than old ones. Though the varia-tions of these values were great, no signifi-cant difference was detected between these cases. It was shown that the circulation blood volume, the circulation blood plasma volume, the circulation hematocyte volume and the-hematocrit value of the same patient showed a greater decrease in the convalescent stage than in the stage of the diseaes.
