  • Look Inside

The effect of cardiazol for EEG activation has long been recognized by many reserchers, but it is not sufficient. We payed attention to the advantage of Bemegride or β-methyl-β-ethyl-glutarimide, and recently have reached to the following a new method, viz. BCPA.

Before going to the BCPA, we had made many experimental trials as follows:

1) Method I: An initial intravenous inje-ction of 0.5% Bemegride 4cc followed by 1cc/ sec. injection.

2) Method II: Method I combined with photic stimulation driven over period of 5 seconds.

3) Method III: Following the procedure of Method I , the routine cardiazol activating method was added until 300mg.

4) Method IV: Employing solution mixed 9 cc of 0.5% Bemegride with icc of 10% cardi-azol, initially 4cc was injected and followed by addition of 1cc every 15 seconds to get 20cc. When the dosage was over 10cc, photic stimulation was driven over period of 5 seconds.

These above described methods were carried out in 112 cases composed of 58 cases of epilepsy, 14 cases with both behavior problem child and oligophrenia, 12 cases with brain damage, and 28 cases of both psychosis and psychoneurosis.
