精神薄弱児に対するγアミノ酪酸の効果（第1報）

EFFECT OF THE ORAL ADMINISTRATING THERAPY OF γ-AMINO-BUTYRIC-ACID ON FEEBLE-MINDED CHILDREN (REPORT 1)

I．緒論

　従来精神薄弱症に対する薬物効果は否定的に考えられてきた。それにも拘らず，イソルモン，ユベラ等を使用して改善を企図しようとの努力もなされてきたが，その効果には見るべきものがなかつた。1946年Zimmerman^3）及びその協同研究者による1-グルタミン酸の動物実験並びに精神薄弱児への応用に始まる諸研究は，精神薄弱症に対する薬物効果に1つの光明を与え，薬物療法の嘗てのニヒリズムを打消す第一歩となつた。グルタミン酸は始めに鎮静剤として，Price, Waelsch，Putnam^3）等によつて使用されていたが（1943），その報告中に，該薬服用患者の中に，その行動面の変化が起る。例えば今までより機敏になるとか素直になるとか，等の事実から，Zimmermanその他の協同研究者による精神薄弱児の精神機能増強への目的に使用する試みが始まつたのである。Zimmerman等は1-グルタミン酸によつて精薄児のIQが増加することを証明したが，この実験は世界の各所に反響をよんで追試され，グルタミン酸は意欲の亢進，気分促進，知能向上，知能成熟の促進，知能発達の改善等を来たす旨の発表を次々と見る様になつた。更にグルタミン酸は単独投与よりはビタミン剤付加が望ましいことも指摘されている。

1) Resulting from the oral administration of γ-amino-butyric-acid on 14 feeble-minded children, we found that the mental functions or them were proved; the case of torpide form become positive, active and social, while eretic form sedate. The latter, however, need to be given it for a long time.

2) I.Q. increased in 7 cases, showed no change in 5.2 were unexaminable. The averag-ed value of increased I. Q. is 5, 1. The highets value of increase 28.

3) The younger the cases, the more effec-tive. In this study, each case was given almost the same dosage with others. This means, the younger cases were given more amount per kilogram the older ones. The usefulness of this drug lies in the properness of the dosage.

4) There is a case. whose I.Q. hightend to some extend by the injection of sodium glu-taminate in to carotid, was further increased by the dosage of this drug, and it may be possible to expect similar result from any other case.

5) In this study, γ-amino-butyric-acid was used only, but it may be expected to get better result by mix with vitamin or others.
