We developed a monochromatic synchrotron radia-tion-excited system for 2-dimensional mapping of X-ray fluorescence evoked from heavy element-loaded microspheres, and evaluated the small regional flow in the short axial myocardial slices of the left ventricle in 5 dogs. The methodological error (average of % difference between the dual flows measured by 2 simul-taneous sets of microspheres, etc) was about 10 %. We cocluded that this system can measure a relatively smaller regional flow than that evaluated by the radio-active michrosphere method with a sufficiently small methodological error. It should be useful for the precise evaluation of local continuity of flow.
