  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

There are very few cases reported who survived acute myocardial infarctions [AMI] at the age of 90 years or older. We report a case of a 99-year-old female, who is the second oldest survivor of AMI in the world as far as we know.

The onset was October 17, 1990. She arrived 2 hours later. The heart rate was 37/min in escaped junctional rhythm with complete A-V block. ST-segment eleva-tion in Ⅱ・ Ⅲ・ aVF and ST-segment deppression in Ⅰ・ aVL・ V2-V6 were observed. During the first 7 days of hospitalization, we employed a temporary pace-maker (VVI mode), but we adopted neither Swan-Ganz catheter nor thrombolytic therapy.
