Algorithm for calculating blood base excess from pH bicarbonate diagram

　体液酸塩基平衡異常の診断の為，呼吸性の指標としては，動脈血CO²分圧，代謝性の指標としては，重炭酸イオン濃度（actual bicarbonate，または，standard bi—carbonate），緩衝塩基（buffer base，BB），塩基過剰（base excess，BE）などが用いられている。その判定に便利ないろいろのノモグラム，例えばSiggaard-Andersencurve nomogram^1） pH-HCO^-₃ diagram^2），Alignmentnomogram^3） Singer & Hastings nomogram^4），Thewsnomogram^5）その他多くが発表されている。また血液pH，Po²，pco²，Hb濃度などから，HCO^-₃，　BB，BEなどの計算式が作られ^6〜11），コンピュータに組入れられている。

　A algorithm for Base Excess (BE) was proposed based on Siggaard-Andersen pH-bicarbonate diagram. BE curve in the diagram was trans-formed to the straight line which has the slope of 65.0 mM/pH unit and passes through the point of BE zero (pH 7.4, HCO^-₃24). BE values were plotted on this straight line corre-sponding to BEs of the original curve, and calculated from following equation.
