The effects of so-called coronary dilators wide-ly used in practice were examined by polaro-graphic measurement of myocardial oxygen ten-sion in situ, and in some cases, also in the myo-cardium with experimentally narrowed coronary artery, and in other cases, using two electrodes to detect the superficial and the deeper layer of myocardium, respectively.
All the agents used in tins study showed in-creased coronary blood flow, but the increase in oxygen tension in the myocardium was observed only in the cases of Persantin, Iproveratril and Segontin.
