The heart can be arrested by ATP and restarted safely. This method is superior in restarting the normal heart beat without ventricular fibrillation even in hypother—mia compared with the method by potas—sium citrate and a valuable technique for open-heart surgery under extracorporeal circulation or hypothermia.
ATP used in these experinents has been made in Kowa Chemical Laboratory.
