要旨●消化管外科切除標本切り出しの目的は，正確な病理診断につながる病理組織標本を作ることであり，臨床画像との対比が可能な標本が作製できれば，臨床医と病理医との対話もスムーズに行える．臨床画像との対比が可能な標本を作るには，病理医と臨床医の情報共有が必須であり，病理医は標本を切り出す前にできる限り正確な臨床情報を収集し，加えて切除標本を徹底的に肉眼で観察し，どこをどのように切り出せば適切な標本が作製できるかを想像することを心掛けなければならない．

　When pathologists dissect surgically resected gastrointestinal specimens, the most important purpose is to prepare histopathological specimens that lead to an accurate pathological diagnosis. To prepare histopathological specimens for good comparison to clinical images, good communication between clinicians and pathologists is very important. Pathologists should collect as much accurate clinical information as possible before dissecting specimens. In addition, pathologists should thoroughly observe the specimens with the naked eye and try to imagine where and how to dissect them to prepare appropriate histopathological specimens.
