 The spectral specifications(wavelengths)of the FICE(flexible spectral imaging color enhancement)settings that are useful in CE(capsule endoscopy)are as follows(FICE 1 : red 595nm, green 540nm, blue 535nm ; FICE 2 : red 420nm, green 520nm, blue 530nm ; FICE 3 : red 595nm, green 570nm, blue 415nm). With integration of the FICE digital processing system into the RAPID® 6.5 workstation, it is possible to switch back and forth at any given time between the conventional CE image and the FICE image(FICE-CE)by simply clicking on an icon at the RAPID® software screen. The 3 different settings make it possible to select the most suitable wavelengths required for evaluation of the capsule video. CE-FICE is advantageous for visualizing small-bowel lesions such as angioectasia, erosion/ulceration, and various tumors. Also, CE-FICE is superior in lesion detection in comparison with conventional CE, and especially improves detection of angioectasia in the small bowel. Therefore, FICE-CE may be an option for beginners to reduce the likelihood of missing micro lesions in reading CE.
