  • Look Inside

A 25-year-old female visited our clinic complaining of sore throat, diarrhea and fever. She had aphthoid ulcers in the oral cavity and was positive in needle reaction of the skin. Barium enema, upper gastrointestinal endoscopic and colonoscopic examinations revealed multiple irregular-shaped ulcers in the cecum and the ascending colon. There were aphthoid ulcers in the transverse, descending, sigmoid colon, the cecum, and the midesophagus. Biopsy specimen obtained from the mucosal lesions of the colon and the esophagus showed nonspecific inflammation. Intestinal Behget's disease was suspected. He rsymptoms and ulcerative lesions completely disappeared with one month's treatment of salicylazosulfapyridine (SASP) 4.Og per day.
