〔Case 1〕a 53-year-old male. We performed EMR for squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus in June, 2000〔SM1, ly(+), v(+)〕. We performed chemoradiotherapy as adjuvant treatment. We diagnosed metachronous esophageal cancer six years later and performed EMR. Pathologically it was diagnosed as squamous cell carcinoma T1a-MM, ly0, v0.

〔Case 2〕a 61-year-old male. We performed EMR for squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus in November, 2000〔SM1, ly(-), v(+)〕. We performed chemoradiotherapy as adjuvant treatment. We diagnosed metachronous esophageal cancer five years later, and performed EMR. Pathologically it was diagnosed as squamous cell carcinoma T1a-MM, ly1, v0. The two cases were diagnosed by six monthly endoscopic examination. The carcinoma were small, equal to less than 10 mm, but it was that their growth rate was fast, and it was noted that they were collapsed lesions whose circumference had swelled. In addition, both of the lesions had an invasion depth of T1a-MM.
