The ordinary surveillance colonoscopy with multiple random biopsies recently has been thought to be ineffective, because the detectability of cancer or dysplasia is quite low for numerous biopsies. Therefore, other surveillance way is thought to be necessary. We have tried to analyze pit pattern of ulcerative colitis-associated cancer and dysplasia using chromo-and magnifying colonoscopy. Consequently13cases with dysplasia or colon cancer had been detected.

The pit pattern of colitic cancer are mainly VI(85.7%), VN(28.6%)and IV(28.6%). The pit pattern of dysplasia are mainly IV(100%), IIIL(41.6%)and VI(41.6%). There is no tendency of the pit pattern among LGD and HGD.
