A Gastric carcinoid with converging folds in a 27-year-old male was reported, which, interestingly, resembled early gastric carcinoma in the appearance of supperficial narrow depression with bulging and fusion of the converging fold ends.

Under the preoperative diagnosis of sporadic type III carcinoid without hypergastrinemina, surgical procedures similar to those used for gastric carcinoma were applied. The surgical specimen revealed a carcinoma 15 mm in maximum size and with sm3 invasion with submucosal fibrosis and lymphnode metastasis.

Generally speaking, gastric carcinoid tumor usually comes in the form of an elevated lesion. The present case presented rare macroscopic and histological findings.

We should consider carefully the possibility of type III gastric carcinoid in preoperative diagnosis and treatment procedures in daily practice.
