Japanese Association of Speech-Language-Hearing Therapists (JAS) began development of a table describing recommended levels of clinical skills that students should achieve during their clinical practicum. To obtain the endorsement of the association members, the newly formed Level Committee in Division of Professional Education and Training for Speech-Language-Hearing Therapists of JAS formulated the first draft of the Level Table and conducted a survey to gather opinions and feedback from the members. The results of the survey indicated approval by the majority of the members. Based on the evaluation and amendment of the first draft, the second draft was prepared by the Committee. The second draft of the Level Table presents an explanation of the skill levels and the issues commonly relevant to speech, language, and hearing disorders at the top, which is followed by additional descriptions regarding specialized areas of disorders. The second draft is expected to ensure safety during the clinical practicum.
