Cold polypectomy is extensively used in recent times. Endoscopic diagnosis of adenoma and early colorectal cancer has gained precedence. Pit pattern diagnosis by magnification is also considered the gold standard for colonoscopic diagnosis. Magnifying endoscopy is valuable for qualitative and quantitative diagnosis. However, both pit pattern and NBI magnification diagnostics have limitations with regards to depth diagnosis. Only the superficial layer of the lesion can be evaluated by magnified endoscopy. However, pit pattern diagnosis can enhance the accuracy of diagnosis by highlighting the development/progression of the entire lesion.
