I．はじめに

　小児の脳動脈瘤を，detachable balloonによって治療する試みそれ自体極めて少ないと思われる．今回われわれは，5歳の女児に認められた内頸動脈海綿静脈洞部の巨大動脈瘤に対して，detachable balloonを用いて，pa—rent arteryを閉塞させずに動脈瘤自身を閉塞させ，しかも，何らcomplicationをきたすことなく治療することのできた症例を経験した．このような報告例は今までに見い出すことができないので，若干の考察を加えここに報告する．

For the treatment of unclippable giant carotid artery aneurysms, proximal occlusion of the carotid artery is still an accepted treatment by surgical ligation, Selver-stone clamp, or detachable balloon. However, proximal artery occlusion should be avoided as far as possible.

Use of detachable balloons for proximal artery occlu-sion in the treatment of giant intracranial aneurysm in children has been reported by several authors, but no report of successfully treated cases of occlusion of the aneurysm without occlusion of the parent artery can be found.
