I．成熟正常脳内における脳病巣の修復

　1982年，浮腫性凍結脳病巣の経時的な観察結果から，われわれは脳浮腫は脳病巣の修復にとって必須なその第1段階であり，しかもそれは発育しつつある正常な胎児脳のメカニズムの再現とみなすことができる，と報告した^6,7）。

　その後さらに実験的に脳浮腫をきたす種々の病態，たとえば脳梗塞，外傷，有機水銀中毒，ならびにウイルス脳炎などを，成熟した脳をもつ動物に作製し検討した。その結果，各種脳病変における浮腫と，それに続く基本的な修復過程はいずれもまったく同様な形態学的変化を辿っていることを確認した^8,10）。

There are at least three different processes of brain lesion repair which are closely related to the developmental stages as well as to the presence of astrocytes and their activity.

The problem of the process of brain lesion repair in the well-developed normal brain was first dealt with. In the first stage, neuronal degeneration and severe astrocyte swelling were noticed. The hematogenous edema fluid permeated the extracellular space and all cells freely floated in it. Then macrophages appeared and phagocytized necrotized cell debris.
