グリア細胞は集合体「アセンブリ」として機能する。このグリアアセンブリは，脳機能制御におけるグリア細胞の役割，特に各種脳疾患におけるグリア細胞の役割の理解に必須である。非侵襲的な軽度脳卒中を経験すると，その後の侵襲的な脳卒中に対する抵抗性が獲得される「虚血耐性」が誘導される。実行細胞としてアストロサイトが中心的な役割を果たすが，これにはミクログリアを含めたグリアアセンブリとしての機能が必須である。

Abstract

Glial cells function as an “assembly”. This functional unit “glial assembly” is essential for understanding the role of glial cells in the regulation of brain function, especially during various brain diseases. Glial assembly also plays an essential role in the process of acquiring so-called “ischemic tolerance,” in which resistance to subsequent invasive strokes is acquired after experiencing a non-invasive minor stroke. This paper describes the mechanism of neuronal protection by the glial assembly of microglia and astrocytes.
