I．緒言

　cyclopentolate hydrochlorideは，1952年に，Treves and Testaが報告した一群の新しい鎮痙剤および散瞳剤の一つで^1），白色結晶，水に可溶性のエステルで，融点は139℃である。

　化学式は，C₁₇H₂₆O₃NClで，構造式は次に示すとおりである。

Sixty-two eyes (40 subjects) with pseudo-myopia were treated by topical administration of 1% cyclopentolate chloride (Cyclogyl) instilled once a day. An increase in visual acuity and decrease in the degree of myopia resulted in 62.9% of treated eyes. The overall average of visual acuity from the initial 0.44 to 0.59 fol-lowing treatment, while the average of refrac-tion decreased from the initial -0.92 diopters to -0.55 diopters following treatment. Control studies in 16 eyes with placebo showed statisti-cally insignificant changes in visual acuity or the state of refraction.
