　本邦では整形外科疾患に対する弱オピオイドの使用経験に関する情報が少ない．今回，整形外科疾患での疼痛に対する鎮痛薬としてリン酸コデインを処方された患者の背景情報や治療結果を集積し，われわれのリン酸コデインの使用経験からその有用性を検討した．98例分の診療情報に基づき患者の背景的特徴や治療パターンについて評価した結果，リン酸コデインの使用に対する理解が患者から得られ，副作用や薬物依存に対する対策を施せば，リン酸コデインは整形外科疾患に対する薬物治療の1つの選択肢になりうることが示唆された．

　There has been little experience with the use of weak opioids in patients with orthopaedic diseases in Japan.　In this study we collected the clinical records of patients who had been prescribed codeine phosphate as an analgesic in our department and examined its therapeutic potential.　Patient characteristics and treatment outcomes were assessed based on the data from 98 patients.　Based on the results, we propose that codeine phosphate can be an effective analgesic for patients with orthopaedic diseases, if the patient accepts the use of codeine phosphate and physicians pay careful attention to side effects and to the prevention of drug addiction.
