頭蓋底部に病変が位置する場合，種々の神経組織に対する圧迫または浸潤により，多彩な神経症状ことに各種の脳神経麻痺を呈する事は周知の如くである。しかし頭蓋底部病変は神経組織のみならず血管系にも障害を及ぼす場合があり，これによる2次的の神経症状もみのがす事はできない。
われわれは過去13年間に経験した頭蓋底部病変の中で，内頸動脈狭窄または閉塞による脳循環障害を来した7例についての病因，狭窄または閉塞の部位および神経症状などについて検討を加えてみた。
Seven cases of internal carotid artery stenosis or occlusion due to basal skull lesion were reported.
The pathology of these 7 cases was chordoma 2, carcinoma of epipharynx 1, basal meningitis 1, basal skull fracture 1, and craniopharyngioma 2.
The stenosis or occlusion begins in the siphon, the intrapetrous portion or high cervical portion and retrograde thrombus develops near to the bifur-cation of internal carotid artery.
Four cases showed neurological symptoms due to internal carotid artery stenosis or occlusion. Two of them were slowly progressing type and others were transcient ischemic attack.
In the cases of cerebral circulatory disturbance due to basal skull lesion, neurological symptoms showed to be similar to that of arteriosclerosis.
