はじめに

　1963年，Fogarty^1）等がBalloon Catheterを末梢血管の栓塞，血栓摘出に応用して以来，血管外科の領域では瘻々使用されている。脳神経外科領域では，1967年にDavie等^2）が内頸動脈閉塞例に始めて応用しており，最近ではProlo等^7）がCarotid cavernous sinus fiistulaの閉塞に利用し良い結果を得ている。私共は頸部内頸動脈完全閉塞症にFogarty Catheterを使用する機会を得，その経験を報告する（第1図）。

The surgical results of complete internal carotid artery occlusion are unsatisfied in the recent papers. One of the reasons is as follow : Ordinary, the surgical exposure of the internal carotid artery in the higher division above 5 cm from the carotid bifurcation is a difficult procedure. Therefore, many attempts to re-establish blood flow in this division has resulted in failure.

We have had good results to establish blood flow by making use of a Fogarty catheter in 2 cases of complete internal carotid artery occlusion in the neck. While unfortunately, 2 patients died on 5th and 7th day after the operations. We think that the utilization of this method should be in-vestigated in may cases.
