　十二指腸カルチノイドは本邦では小原らの報告を最初とし，消化管カルチノイドの中では比較的まれなものとされていた．その後，報告例は次第に増加し，われわれの集計では自験例を含めて58例であった．今回，われわれは十二指腸Vater乳頭部に発生したカルチノイドの1例を経験し，膵頭十二指腸切除により治癒しえたのでここに報告し，併せて若干の統計的考察を試みた．

　A 45-year-old woman was admitted to Izumisaki Hospital with a chief complaint of epigastralgia in January 1978. There was no carcinoid syndrome in her history. Hypotonic duodenography and duodenoscopy revealed a submucosal tumor of the papilla of Vater. Cholecystectomy and transduodenal sphincteroplasty were performed. The specimen of the papilla of Vater was histologically diagnosed as carcinoid tumor and pancreatoduodenectomy was performed two months after the first operation. Histologically tumor cells of uniform size showed island-like, cord-like and ribbon-like structures. Argyrophil reaction by Grimelius method showed argyrophil granules, but argentaffine reaction by the Masson-Fontana method was negative.
