　ほぼ80年の人生の間に，ほぼ１回しかおきない心血管イベントを理解するにはどうすればいいのだろうか。一つの答えは，生体で血栓を誘発し，形成過程を観察することである。我々は二光子顕微鏡によるバイオイメージングと，血栓形成を促す光操作技術を生かし，生体での血栓過程にアプローチしている。本稿では，in vitroの理解を超えて，生体での血小板の活性化機構と血栓止血機能，さらに多彩な生命生理現象との関わりについて最近の知見を紹介する。また，骨髄中の造血過程についても観察対象となる。

　In vivo imaging technique can elucidate dynamic molecular and cellular mechanisms in various fields. We applied two photon microscopy technique to living animals, and combined with light based cell manipulation system. We elucidated the detailed cellular processes of thrombosis and thrombopoiesis in vivo. In this review, we introduce our recent findings of in vivo platelet activation, hemostasis and thrombopoiesis from bone marrow megakaryocytes.
