 Objective:To investigate therapeutic effects of a fermented soy product and Bifidobacterium on atopic dermatitis(AD)in children.  Methods:Nineteen children with AD, aged 1-5 years, were assigned to receive a fermented soy product with(IB group)or without Bifidobacterium(I group)for 24 weeks.  Results:Compared to the baseline, the SCORAD(Severity Scoring of Atopic Dermatitis)index significantly decreased after 24 weeks in I group, and after 12 weeks in IB group. Only in IB group, the scores of psychological distress of parents were significantly improved after both 12 and 24 weeks.  Conclusions:A fermented soy product has potential therapeutic effect on AD in children, and Bifidobacterium may enhance this effect.
