We report the case of a young, otherwise healthy patient who developed paraplegia following the use of general anesthesia in an endoscopic sinus surgery conducted for chronic rhinosinusitis, and was subsequently suspected of having conversion disorder(sometimes called ‘functional neurological symptom disorder).’ He demonstrated a discrepancy between his self-perceived muscle strength and the findings of the neurological examination. After the exclusion of organic etiology, his symptoms subsequently resolved spontaneously.

In cases in which unexplained neurological symptoms arise during the patient’s perioperative period, it is essential to consider conversion disorder, conduct a comprehensive evaluation, and initiate timely management.
