Anesthesiologists inevitably face events associated with various life stages and changes in living circumstances. Given the essential role of anesthesiology within the social infrastructure, it is crucial to retain anesthesiologists amidst these life events. This paper is authored by members of the U40 generation currently navigating childbirth and child-rearing, with the hope that anesthesiologists can achieve a fulfilling professional life regardless of individual circumstances. We provide an analysis of the current landscape, grounded in objective data, while exploring future prospects for anesthesiologists’ work-life integration. We also underscore the importance of recognizing generational and individual diversity among anesthesiologists. As described herein, experiences from various life stages can enhance the holistic approach to patient care for anesthesiologists who manage life and pain.
