We conducted a survey of plastic surgeons regarding the need for a nursery room at conference venues in plastic surgery-related societies in Japan. Although many academic societies are now establishing nursery rooms for their conferences, the rate of the establishment of the nursery rooms is low in plastic surgery-related societies. There are many female plastic surgeons who may need nursery rooms for the care of their children at conferences, and this need has not been met. In addition, the specialist-qualification and instructor-qualification systems in Japan are changing, and academic conference participation is required more than ever. It is necessary to promote the establishment of nursery rooms to assist clinicians who aim to obtain specialist qualifications or instructor qualifications. Even if it is difficult to set up a nursery room due to a small number of participants, it is important to provide as much support as possible, for example through a subsidy system.
