Differences in External Nasal Morphology and Aesthetics Between Japanese Men and Women

はじめに

　外鼻の形態は，男性と女性で大きく異なり，成長や加齢に伴い，骨，軟骨，皮膚の形態も変化する。審美性においては文化圏，人種，思想によって大きく異なり，一様の正解はない。

　本稿では男女の審美性を検討するにあたり，外鼻の形態の成長期，青年期，壮年期，老年期における変化について，社会通念上美しい，望ましい，良いと考えられる男女の外鼻形態を人相学とAIを用いて作成し，他者へもたらす意味や社会への影響を審美的要素として考察する。そのうえで形成外科医が外鼻形成を行う際に注意すべき点を挙げ，社会的意味と医学的な考察を加える。なお，審美面からの考察ではあるが，醜い，不細工，良くない，望ましくない，などの負のイメージを表す外貌についての検討は本稿では行わなかった。

　The external nasal morphology/aesthetics of Japanese men and women differ significantly due to age-related changes in bone, cartilage, and skin. These differences are explored herein based on an analysis of nasal features from adolescence through old age. Artificial intelligence (AI)-generated images derived from images of traditional physiognomy were used to create an idealized representation of the nasal form for each gender. The analysis results revealed that age-related morphological changes impact both aesthetic appeal and societal perceptions. Key surgical considerations are also discussed, highlighting the importance of achieving harmony between functional improvement and aesthetic refinement in nasal surgery. This research offers valuable clinical insights for plastic surgeons aiming to optimize nasal reconstruction and aesthetic surgery in Japanese populations.
