Pressure injuries occur most frequently in the sacral region and are more likely to occur on the back of the body, including the coccyx, calcaneus, and hip bones. Two types of treatment are used for pressure injuries: conservative treatment and surgical treatment. Local flaps are useful for treating a pressure injury, and we use the local-flap technique when it is judged to be appropriate. After surgery for a back pressure injury, especially those at the sacral region, patients are usually managed in the lateral or abdominal position. However, these positions can be physically and mentally stressful for the patients. We report the successful results of postoperative management conducted with the patient in the supine position, using a small change technique.
