Purpose: This survey aimed to clarify the research- and education-related study needs of young nursing researchers to examine the support for them.

Method: An anonymous, web-based, self-administered survey was conducted for the members of the Japan Academy of Nursing Science (JANS) who were <45 years old. The study topic, duration, style, and date requested by the nursing researchers were tabulated. In addition, the study contents and opinions of the nursing researchers were categorized based on their meanings.

Result: A total of 616 responses were analyzed. The study topics requested by the nursing researchers included “workshop on statistical methods (20.5%),” “workshop on qualitative analysis procedures (14.0%),” “methods to promote collaborative research with clinicians or researchers from multidisciplinary areas (13.9%),” and “writing acceptable research papers (12.0%).” Study duration such as half a day or one day, study style such as conducting lectures, and study time such as summer or spring vacations were also requested during the survey.

Conclusion: As a result of survey on the research- and education- related study needs of young nursing researchers, most of them requested workshops based on learning research analysis methods, ways to promote collaborative research, and ways to write acceptable research papers.
