This study reviewed research that applied the goal-setting theory proposed by Lock and Latham in the rehabilitation for physically disabled, elderly, and able-bodied people and explored factors that influence people's physical activities and healthy behaviors. Eight articles found in PubMed, CINAHL, and Igaku Chuo Zasshi were organized into categories using both deductive and inductive approaches. As a result, in addition to the various factors described by goal-setting theory, categories were created related to dynamic and multiphasic approaches, flexible goals and action plans, and collaborative practices. The rehabilitation programs that include these factors could promote physical activities and healthy behaviors among the physically disabled, elderly, and able-bodied people in the rehabilitation field.
