This study reports on the development of a new method to assess the accuracy of images of putting on clothes based on the degree of agreement between the patients actual and imagined physical ability. To accomplish this, animated images were created as part of a new evaluation scale.

In the first stage of the study, we made several evaluation points and an evaluation standard based on two viewpoints: hemiplegic patients imagining putting on clothes and their movement characteristics when they actually put on clothes. Four evaluation items were determined: the condition of the cuff, elbow, and shoulder of the clothes on the paralyzed side, and the back body part of the clothes. In addition, an evaluation standard, which grouped the patients' physical abilities into five grades was created. In the last stage of this study, we made animated images in which an occupational therapist represented the patient's physical abilities grouped into five grades.

This animated image-based evaluation scale adequately represented the degree of motor function because two occupational therapists unaware of the details of this study accurately arranged the animated images according to functional level.
