The purpose of this study is to show the factors to motivate to cook in women's daily life. We analyzed the differences of the factors by the family formations. Most of the women answered that they cooked for the health maintenance and the family. However, our results showed that newly married women and women who lived with grandchildren felt the factor of communication in cooking was very important. They also answered that cooking was very enjoyable. On the other hand, women who lived with younger children answered that the cooking was the duty of a house wife. They also tended to answer that the cooking was painful. These results indicate that the factors to motivate to cook are different according to the family formation. These results also indicate that cooking has value for the family and that cooking under comfortable environments may contribute to positive emotions and to good performance when cooking.
