A questionnaire was administered to 327 health-related professionals via mail. The purpose of this study was to investigate the health-related professionals' experience with and involvement in self-help groups. Also, we aimed to examine the content and meaning of the involvement and future plans, and then to compare our findings, keeping many health related professions in mind, with those professionals who were reconsidering occupational therapists' provision of better service. The participants included 166 health related professionals, 30 having been occupational therapists.

The result showed that approximately 40% of the subjects had been involved, currently or in the past, in self-help groups. As for experience derived from involvement, in the past and present and according to profession, significant statistics were identified. There were no significant findings with regard to future plans. As for referring people to self-help groups, over 30% of the participants responded "yes". 70% showed an interest in OT SHG, and they show considerable concern for groups.

It could be concluded that the collection of related information could help make significant changes in the teaching of SHG and in the design and construction of clinical models.
