  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the intraperitoneal temperature and humidity in laparoscopic insufflation and to investigate the effect of the heater humidifier of carbon dioxide gas. The data was obtained by recording the temperature and relative humidity in 40 patients during laparoscopic cholecystectomy and in 4 pigs under laparoscopy. The peritoneal cavity had the definite ability to strongly maintain at 36℃ in tempera-ture and 100% in relative humidity. This homeostais leads to the less invasive nature of the laparoscopic surgery by maintaining the physiological environment of the abdominal cavity.
